Responsible Irish Fish
A new label for fish and shellfish has been introduced to the Irish market called “Responsible Irish Fish”.
The main aims of the group behind the label are to assist vessel owners achieve certification for their fish/shellfish, to develop a brand to allow Irish Fishermen differentiate their products in the market place and to promote Irish fish caught in a responsible manner. ![]()
RIF Co-Ops
Fish from Irish waters is landed daily in to our fishermen’s co-ops and also by independent vessels around our coasts.
RIF Practices
Our member vessels are implementing the BIM Environmental Management System which was developed by close collaboration between BIM and the Irish catching sector. This system allows vessels demonstrate their commitment to responsible fishing practices.
RIF Retail Information
We are currently working with a number of retail partners to bring our fish and shellfish products to consumers. We are running a pilot project with SuperValu and some of our main whitefish species are available in seventy stores around the country.
